MPS Arts theater programs promote both self-discovery and a strong sense of community. Through the process of helping students create theater, talented staff foster deep experiential learning and expanded cultural awareness. Teachers work to meet every student at the creative junction where life experience meets ambition and intellectual curiosity in order to expose, nuture, and challenge MPS students with rigorous theatrical training.

Theater programming is available at a few select elementary and middle school programs and all MPS high schools. Extracurricular theater opportunities include one-act festivals, plays, and musicals.

At the high school level curriculum focuses on developing the complete actor. Essential foundational skills in acting are combined with introduction to technical theater, directing, and playwriting to emphasize the concept that theater is a collaborative art form. Students are encouraged to be critical thinkers, risk-takers, creators and committed skill builders.
